Wang Yangming's calligraphy scroll returns to Shaoxing for exhibition

The Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) 8-meter-long calligraphy scroll titled Two Seven-Character Regulated Verses in Running Script by Wang Yangming arrived in Shaoxing on May 11. The scroll was brought back and stored by Xiang Zhifeng, director of the Huamai Calligraphy and Painting Museum, and will be publicly exhibited starting May 21.

Shaoxing enterprise contributes to constructing world's tallest building

Jinggong International Co, a subsidiary of Jinggong Steel Building Group (Jinggong Group) headquartered in Keqiao district, Shaoxing, won the bid for the steel structure project above the 120th floor of Jeddah Tower on May 9. This marks the company’s full undertaking of the supply and installation of all main steel structures for the tower.

Growth in Shaoxing's population, urbanization rate in 2025

According to data from the Shaoxing municipal bureau of statistics, the city's permanent population reached 5.44 million by the end of 2025, an increase of 14,000 compared to the end of 2024. The urbanization rate of the permanent population rose to 75.7 percent, up by 1.2 percent from 2024.

The 6th Yueju Opera festival to kick off in Shaoxing

The sixth China Yueju Opera Arts Festival is set to open in Shaoxing on May 15. Hosted by Zhejiang Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Zhejiang Government, the month-long festival will showcase the 120-year development journey of Yueju Opera.
