Shaoxing selected as sole pilot city for national patent dispute mediation
Shaoxing has been chosen as the only pilot city in China for enhancing patent open license dispute mediation capabilities, a significant initiative following the new guidelines issued by the China National Intellectual Property Administration in July.
The program aims to refine patent dispute mediation and recognizes Shaoxing's effective intellectual property conflict resolution system. As part of this effort, Shaoxing has strengthened its IP dispute mediation committee by expanding the number of professional mediators to seven and part-time mediators to 62, achieving full coverage across the city's districts, counties, and county-level cities.
Shaoxing plans to streamline the mediation process by optimizing application procedures, setting clear deadlines, and simplifying agreement formalities.
An integrated online and offline platform will further enhance the efficiency of mediation. The city is also forming a mediation team comprising IP and legal experts to ensure high-quality outcomes. Additionally, Shaoxing will conduct simulated mediation sessions to refine processes and techniques.
Shaoxing has developed a comprehensive IP protection framework that is considered a model in China. Over the past three years, the city has successfully mediated more than 180 IP disputes, involving over 100 million yuan, with more than 50 cases resolved effectively.
