The Huishan Watermelon Fresh Tasting Season began in Huishan town, Xinchang county, Shaoxing, on July 27.

The event, centered around watermelons, featured activities such as tasting, a watermelon king contest, and the appointment of watermelon ambassadors, attracting numerous visitors eager to sample the local produce.

Huishan, a high-altitude plateau with an average elevation of 412 meters, boasts unique geographical and climatic conditions. This green, natural environment fosters healthy ecological agriculture. Huishan watermelons, in particular, are known for their sweet, crisp taste and are a popular summer refreshment in the Yangtze River Delta region.

This year, the town introduced the "Watermelon Selection Officer" system. Selected from among the largest watermelon growers and veteran farmers, these officers choose the best watermelons based on standardized criteria, including shape, weight, and ripeness.
