Shaoxing subway line transports 334,000 passengers
Shaoxing Metro Line 1 has transported over 334,000 passengers since it started operations on June 28, local media reported on July 6.
The daily passenger volume is about 47,700, which is higher than the daily passenger volumes of rail transport in cities like Jinan, Sanya, and Zhuhai in 2020, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Transport.
The trains run every nine minutes from China Textile City Station in Keqiao district, Shaoxing to Guniangqiao Station in Hangzhou's Xiaoshan district, with a maximum speed of 100 km per hour.
"Metro Line 1 gives me a special sense of belonging, with Shaoxing and Hangzhou becoming a metropolis," said Xu Yuling, a Shaoxing native who lives in the city's Keqiao district, but works in Hangzhou's Binjiang district.
"If I get aboard from Guniangqiao Station, it will only take me 47 minutes to get to West Lake scenic area, 50 minutes to Hangzhou International Airport, and slightly over 50 minutes to the First Hospital of Zhejiang Province," she added.
Shaoxing is the third city in Zhejiang province to possess metro lines. Shaoxing Metro Line 1 will be extended and cover more areas before the Asian Games Hangzhou 2022.
