The stories of Hang Lanying, Party chief of Zhuwen village in Shangyu district, Shaoxing were told to the public via reportage literature on June 23.
The book records Hang's commitment to village governance and lifting villagers out of poverty. Her wisdom and experience in serving the public are valuable lessons, said a Shangyu native at the book's release ceremony.
The book tells of Hang's contributions throughout 35 years in 10 chapters.
In 1986, Hang, who was then a "barefoot doctor" – a rural healthcare provider with only basic medical and paramedical training – was elected the village's Party chief.
She adapted the development models of other villages with local conditions and transformed Zhuwen from an impoverished village to a national model of common prosperity.
The book will be recommended to more readers in the district to motivate more public servants like Hang, according to a senior director of the organization department of the CPC Shangyu committee.
