Zhejiang has launched an AI skills training initiative that aims to provide at least 2 million training places by the end of 2028 and train 6,000 digital technology engineers and at least 100,000 skilled AI workers.

The initiative comprises seven programs for different groups. Enterprise employees account for the largest share, with at least 1 million training places planned over three years. Priority will go to workers in industries vulnerable to AI disruption, with training integrated into their jobs.

Skilled craftspeople, including chief technicians and inheritors of intangible cultural heritage, will receive training in applying AI to their work. Technical schools across the province will introduce general AI education, offer at least 30 related programs, and establish 20 AI training bases by 2028.

University students will have access to practical courses and job referrals. Young people seeking re-employment or working in new forms of employment will receive tailored training.

Courses for aspiring entrepreneurs will cover training in AI systems, prompt engineering, AI-assisted e-commerce operations, video editing, and embodied robot maintenance. Rural workers moving into nonagricultural employment and unemployed people will be eligible for free evening and holiday classes, with personalized job recommendations based on digital profiles.
