Snacks from Lanxi — a county-level city of Jinhua, Zhejiang province — were featured at the 2026 Mid-Autumn Festival Carnival in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Sept 19.

The two-day event brought together food markets, cultural performances, and folk experiences, drawing locals and overseas Chinese to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival.

The carnival, in its fourth year, has become a major cultural exchange event between China and Brazil. Zhang Xiaohong, president of the Brazil Jinhua Chamber of Commerce and a native of Lanxi, emphasized that the festival not only reunites overseas Chinese but also deepens cultural ties between the two nations.

Featuring about 60 food stalls, the market showcased diverse Chinese flavors, with Lanxi snacks praised in particular. Wang Jianhua, a vendor from Lanxi who runs a Chinese snack shop in Brazil, offered specialties like Lanxi shaobing and jiziguo (egg pancake).

He expressed pride at how quickly the treats sold out. "Even Brazilians are eager to learn the recipes," Wang added.

Additionally, a large screen at the event displayed promotional videos, offering insights into Lanxi's culture and cuisine.

Zhang said, "Sharing Lanxi cuisine at events like this is a great way to promote our hometown's foods. The warm reception inspires us to share more Lanxi specialties in Brazil in the future."
