Zhejiang retail sales edge up in July

Zhejiang's total retail sales of consumer goods reached 301.4 billion yuan ($44.84 billion) in July, up 0.2 percent year-on-year, according to the Zhejiang Provincial Bureau of Statistics.
Retail sales of wearable smart devices, smartphones, and cosmetics rose 57.8 percent, 43.5 percent, and 25.9 percent, respectively. Sales of daily necessities, grain, oil and food products, and beverages increased 13.4 percent, 11.7 percent, and 11.2 percent.
In the first seven months, retail sales totaled 2.26 trillion yuan, up 2.6 percent.
Zhejiang's imports and exports reached 3.50 trillion yuan during the January-July period, up 9.5 percent year-on-year. Exports rose 10 percent to 2.66 trillion yuan, while imports increased 7.8 percent to 830 billion yuan. The figures accounted for 11.6 percent, 15.3 percent, and 6.6 percent of the national totals, respectively.
Private enterprises recorded 2.89 trillion yuan in imports and exports, up 10.5 percent. They accounted for 82.7 percent of the province's total trade and contributed 8.6 percentage points to its growth.
