Xiandu Scenic Area, a national 5A tourist attraction in Jinyun county, Lishui, Zhejiang province, is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes. Its most iconic landmark is Dinghu Peak, a 170.8-meter-tall stone pillar that rises like a giant bamboo shoot.
Beyond its natural beauty, Jinyun is deeply rooted in Huangdi culture. Revered as the legendary ancestor of the Chinese people and the founder of Chinese civilization, Huangdi, or Yellow Emperor, is said to have practiced alchemy at Dinghu Peak before ascending to heaven on the back of a dragon.
This is Nardus Smith's fourth visit to Xiandu. His fascination with the destination began years ago after seeing an Instagram photo of a farmer leading a water buffalo across a stone bridge — a scene that inspired him to experience the landscape firsthand.
Now, join Nardus as he explores Xiandu's rivers and mountains, uncovering the timeless stories of Jinyun.
