Quzhou to host National Athletics Championships
Quzhou will host the 2026 National Athletics Championships from Aug 12 to 16, with nearly 2,000 athletes from across the country expected to compete.
The championships will return to Quzhou for the fourth consecutive year. As one of China's largest and most competitive athletics events, this year's championships will bring together Olympic and world championship veterans, as well as young athletes.
The event will serve as a key test for teams reviewing their summer training results and preparing for the new international competition cycle and the upcoming Nagoya Asian Games. It will also mark the first collective appearance of provincial and municipal teams ahead of the 16th National Games.
This year's championships will introduce several relay events, including the men's and women's 4x100m and 4x400m relays, the mixed 4x400m relay, and the mixed 4x100m relay, which will make its debut at the national championships.
Organizers will further expand market-oriented operations by involving more local and national brands. Spectator services will also be upgraded, with long-term fans invited to present medals to athletes.
Quzhou aims to use the championships to promote the integrated development of competitive sports, public fitness, and the city's sports culture.
