The departure of the Liberia-flagged container ship Green Sepetiba at the Comprehensive Bonded Zone Terminal of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port's Baiquan port area marks the first voyage on Zhoushan's newly established South American BRICS container shipping route. This new line will operate weekly, connecting major East Asian industrial hubs with Brazil's ports.

The ship, which docked on Jan 22, has been loaded with about 253 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) filled with textile products, auto parts, and small commodities from Yiwu, weighing approximately 65,000 metric tons. It is scheduled to depart for Nansha Port in Guangdong province before crossing the Pacific Ocean to major ports on the east coast of South America such as the Port of Sepetiba in Brazil.

The Comprehensive Bonded Zone Terminal of Baiquan port area handled 59,500 TEUs in 2025, a 6.25 percent increase from the previous year.

With the continuous addition of new services, including a new bi-weekly South American shipping route that will begin next month, the terminal's annual container throughput is projected to grow by 30,000 to 40,000 TEUs, enhancing its role as a platform for international trade.
