Jiaxing receives 1.45m tourists during Qingming holiday

During this year's Qingming Festival, Jiaxing welcomed 1.45 million visitors, generating 1.89 billion yuan ($261.27 million) in tourism revenue, a remarkable increase of 245.91 percent year-on-year.

Notably, 80.11 percent of tourists were from outside Zhejiang province, with 73.1 percent staying overnight.

Red tourism, particularly commemorating the 60th anniversary of Dong Biwu's revisit to Nanhu, drew significant crowds. Nanhu Scenic Area saw a staggering 143.71 percent increase in daily visitors.

Activities like flower viewing, camping and art exhibitions in the city attracted over 1.09 million participants. Popular destinations like Wuzhen and Xitang received 154,200 and 125,900 tourists respectively during the holiday, marking a daily year-on-year increase of 363.51 percent and 27.29 percent.

Scenic villages leveraged intangible cultural heritage to boost rural tourism. Tongxiang's Shuangmiaozhu silkworm flower fair hosted a number of folk activities, attracting 100,000 visitors.

During the holiday, the city's 3A-level scenic villages received 407,500 tourists and generated 9 million yuan in revenue, marking increases of 260 percent and 130.25 percent, respectively.
