The 19th batch of Chinese medical team sent by Zhejiang province returned to China on Dec 28, concluding an impactful 18-month mission in the Central African Republic.

Dedicated to developing China-Africa health services and fostering friendship between Chinese and African peoples, the medical team provided diverse medical services, including traditional Chinese medicine, to more than 36,000 local patients. They also introduced 10 new technologies and projects to enhance the healthcare sector in the country.

Comprising 12 members, with 11 hailing from Jiaxing, the team encountered many challenges during their stay in the Central African Republic, including security risks and harsh conditions.

Undeterred, the medical team successfully established multiple local departments, such as internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology, and pain anesthesia.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of China's foreign aid medical teams. These teams have consistently demonstrated humanitarian spirit and love without borders in Africa. Jiaxing, a steadfast supporter since 1968, has thus far sent 27 batches and 86 medical team members to contribute to the cause.
