Qingtian county's lily industry boosts rural development

A sea of colorful lilies has spruced up the landscape of Shuqiao township in Qingtian county of Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province and attracted hordes of visitors.

Shuqiao, which is the first township in Qingtian to plant lilies, now has 26 varieties of the flower. Lilies and their buds can also be eaten and used for medicinal purposes.

Lily planting has become a key driver of rural vitalization and improving incomes in Shuqiao.

According to the township government, the lily industry is expected to generate more than 11 million yuan ($1.56 million) in revenue this year.
