Established in 1973, Dazu District Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital is a 2A hospital. It is a national demonstration base in rural Chinese medicine knowledge and skills training, a national and municipal advanced unit in traditional Chinese medicine culture construction, and the district's traditional Chinese medicine treatment, education and research center.

The hospital has made remarkable progress in the construction of advantages in traditional Chinese medicine. There are 5 national and municipal key Chinese medicine specialties. The specialty preparations represented by the intangible cultural heritage cornua cervi pantotrichum honeyed bolus enjoy a good reputation.

The number of annual outpatients and emergency patients is more than 220,000, while the number of annual discharged patients is 27,000. The comprehensive building (Phase I) with an investment of 3.25 billion yuan is designed to have 656 beds, which will bring the total number of beds to nearly 1,000. 

The hospital is striving to build itself into a 3A hospital.
