Lovers Avenue prepares for upcoming Golden Week holiday
Zhuhai is striving to improve the quality of its tourism services along the scenic Lovers Avenue during the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, which run from Sept 29 to Oct 6.
Lovers Avenue is the ever-popular urban road that stretches for 28 kilometers along the coastline of downtown Zhuhai.
Under the city brand - City of A Hundred Islands and Land of Young Dreams - municipal departments have been collaborating to enhance the travel efficiency along Lovers Avenue and the level of tourism services, creating a romantic coastal area along the avenue.
The first municipal tourist service center for Lovers Avenue - built by the Zhuhai Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism & Sports - will open to the public in late September.
Located on the third floor of the City Balcony, a new popular commercial complex in Zhuhai offering sweeping views of the sea, the center will provide cultural and tourism advice, tourist guide services, tea and rest areas, and an exhibition and sale of Zhuhai gifts for visitors.
In addition, public toilets will be gradually increased along Lovers Avenue. Currently, there are 21 toilets there running, from Relang (Hot Waves) Bay to Haitian Park, and eight more will open during the eight-day holiday.
Starting Sept 1, the Lingjiaozui Curve area of Central Lovers Avenue will be closed and from Sept 21 to Oct 7, various events such as citywalks, camping, markets, live music, and flash performances will be held there.
It will be turned into a highly distinctive bayfront scenic spot in Zhuhai and a charming tourist area along Lovers Avenue, boosting the cultural and recreational experiences for both locals and tourists.

It's projected that the number of tourists visiting Lovers Avenue during the holiday will exceed the same period in 2019. Due to the limited parking spaces nearby, the municipal Public Security Bureau will implement necessary traffic control measures such as flow restrictions and diversions.
During the holiday, 20 regular bus routes - including Nos 99, 9, 2, 3, 25, 931, and K10 along Lovers Avenue and surrounding roads - will increase their operation frequency. This is designed to facilitate the travel of passengers from Gongbei Checkpoint and Zhuhai Station on the Urban Rail Transit line to places such as the Fisher Maiden statue, City Balcony, and Zhuhai Opera House.
A temporary shuttle bus loop will be launched in the core area of Lovers Road to serve locals and tourists shuttling between Zhuhai Opera House and Haibin Beach (Love Post Office).
Additional shared bicycle parking spots will also be set up along Lovers Avenue and around nearby parking lots, based on on-site needs. Emergency parking spots and distribution areas for shared bicycles will be prepared in key areas such as Relang Bay, Haibin Park, and City Balcony for emergency parking and transportation. Staff will be positioned in advance along Lovers Avenue to guide citizens and tourists in the orderly parking of shared bicycles.
Moreover, the districts in Zhuhai have teamed up to launch 10 new tourist hotspots, 10 major cultural and tourism brand activities, and 10 recommended routes for popular tourist attractions.
