The Nam Kwong (Hengqin) Logistics Center, a major project of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, began construction on Aug 28, striving to be a logistical center that supports the livelihood and economic development of both Macao and Hengqin.

The center is located on the east side of the Modaomen Waterway, west of Qinhai West Road, and north of Huandao North Road. It has an area of 43,000 square meters (10.6 acres) and a floorage of 159,000 sq m (39 acres). 

The Nam Kwong Group has invested about 1 billion yuan ($138 million) into the center's construction.

Taking advantage of the policies in Hengqin, the center will engage in various international trade businesses, such as cross-border e-commerce, air cargo logistics, and duty-free services. The project is scheduled to complete its main structure construction by the end of 2024 and officially begin operations in 2026.

The center will be equipped with an air cargo terminal, automated warehousing facility, cold storage area, ambient storage area, automated food processing area, non-automated food processing area, and office facilities. 

It aims to become a demonstrative logistics center with the most comprehensive functions and the highest level of intelligence in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

In addition, the project will contribute to the development of new formats and models, such as cross-border e-commerce and smart logistics in Macao and Hengqin. 

A comprehensive service ecosystem for cross-border e-commerce and a high-level logistics system will be established upon the center's operation. 

Additionally, it will generate an industrial cluster effect that will provide strong impetus and competitive advantages for Hengqin's development. It will also serve as a demonstration for Macao's logistics companies to actively participate in Hengqin's development.
