The Tianmu Qintai project in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin finished construction on its main structure on July 25. Mechanical and electrical equipment installation and decoration works will soon follow.

The project is expected to be fully completed and delivered by mid-2024.

Located in the center of the Tianmu River in Hengqin, the project covers a total area of 68,700 square meters (17 acres) and has a floorage of 246,000 sq m (61 acres). With a height of 70 meters (230 ft), it consists of 16 above-ground floors and 2 underground ones. 

This comprehensive urban project will integrate industrial office space, conference and exhibition facilities, hotel services, commercial leisure facilities, and yacht clubs.

Its overall design integrates functional space, ecological technology, and an integrated construction site that organically blends the building, bridge, and island. This aligns with the concept of sponge cities and meets flood control and drainage requirements.

The landmark's architectural design is based on the idea of "reflecting the charm," drawing inspiration from the name "Hengqin" (a horizontal zither). Taking cues from the pipa, a traditional Chinese musical instrument, and the guqin, an ancient Chinese zither, the design incorporates the basic curvature of guqin to form the building's curved shape. The exterior of the project resembles a pipa resting on the Tianmu River.

The Shuangshuang Bridge, which is being constructed in collaboration with the project, is expected to be completed by the end of this year. The bridge adopts a Southern European-style design, while also featuring regional characteristics that will complement the Tianmu Qintai project. 

Upon operation, it will become a new landmark attraction in Hengqin.
