Design for Hezhou hub station revealed
The consortium formed by the Hangzhou Bureau of Planning and Natural Resources, Singapore RSP Architects Planners & Engineers, and Cistri (PTE) stood out from other global competitors in the international Zhuhai (Hezhou) Hub Station urban design competition, Zhuhai Natural Resources Bureau announced on June 26.
Zhuhai (Hezhou) Hub Station is set to be located east of the Modaomen Waterway and adjacent to the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. The south of the station will be connected with the area reserved for downtown Hezhou, and its west side will be adjacent to both Doumen and Jinwan.

Hezhou, located in the geographic center of Zhuhai, is a major node for promoting the balanced development of the east and west wings of Zhuhai.
The competition required global participants to build an efficient, ecological, and intelligent new city in a 15-square-kilometer (5.8-square-mile) area.
The consortium's design involves building a station that seamlessly integrates with the city's existing scenery, while adhering to a green and low-carbon development pattern centered around three pillars: Zhuhai (Hezhou) Hub Station, Doumen, and Jinwan.
The railway design minimizes impact on the city, while also conveniently connecting public spaces on both sides of the tracks for residents.
Of note, the Hangzhou Bureau of Planning and Natural Resources is nationally renowned for its advanced designs in high-speed train stations, such as Hangzhou West Railway Station.
Zhuhai (Hezhou) Hub Station is poised to serve as a pivotal transportation hub for residents in Zhuhai and Macao, providing convenient access to the rest of the country. Once completed, it will undertake various railways, such as the Zhuhai-Zhaoqing High-speed Railway and Guangzhou-Zhuhai (Macao) High-speed Railway.
Infrastructure construction for Zhuhai (Hezhou) Hub Station and necessary transportation projects nearby will commence soon, said officials of the Zhuhai Natural Resources Bureau.
