Hengqin center promotes further China-PSCs sci-tech cooperation
An exchange and sharing conference was held on May 8 to shed light on the construction of the Center for Science and Technology Exchange and Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (CSTCP) in Hengqin.
CSTCP is the first international technology exchange and transfer platform established by the Ministry of Science and Technology in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and will be jointly built by Macao, Zhuhai, and Hengqin. Adopting a pioneering "dual center" mode of operation, two centers will be established in Macao and Hengqin respectively.
So far, site selection and registration processes for the Zhuhai-Hengqin center have been completed in Hengqin. The center is envisioned to become a comprehensive platform featuring sci-tech research, incubation, industry-university-research cooperation, talent cultivation, and project settlement.
The event was organized by the Zhuhai Science and Technology Innovation Bureau and co-sponsored by Economic and Technological Development Bureau of Macao (DSEDT) and nearly 100 representatives from universities, sci-tech enterprises, and service institutes attended.

Officials from the DSEDT noted that the center is expected to be a new demonstrative model for Zhuhai-Macao cooperation.
Shan Hong, head of the 5th Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, said that the center will help the hospital and Portuguese-speaking countries to explore ways to standardize the cultivation of technical personnel.
Hu Chuanwei, vice president of Gree Group, said that the center will greatly promote the coordinated innovation between Macao and Zhuhai in industry-university-research-investment cooperation. It will boost the global transfer and transformation of sci-tech achievements, while also helping to establish a new Macao-Zhuhai cooperation and development pattern.
Hu added that as Zhuhai's first State-owned capital investment and operation platform, Gree Group will continue to focus on fintech, investment attraction, enterprise cultivation, sci-tech carrier construction, and talent team building.
In addition, Zhuhai has been teaming up with Macao in building the Guangzhou-Zhuhai-Macao Sci-tech Corridor in hopes of accelerating sci-tech innovation.
Wang Lei, head of the Zhuhai Science and Technology Innovation Bureau, noted that the center will aim to serve sci-tech innovation, while also promoting industrial upgrading and high-quality development.
