Citywide flower markets add festive atmosphere to Zhuhai
Wandering around the flower markets to buy New Year flowers has long been a custom for Zhuhai residents to welcome the upcoming Spring Festival, which falls on Jan 22 this year.
Several Spring Festival flower markets have opened in Zhuhai, making it convenient for residents to find and buy flowers. These markets are also ideal places for people to enjoy their leisure time.
The 2023 Wanzai Tourist Terminal Spring Festival Flower Market opened on Jan 11, with 153 booths showcasing boutique flowers, festive decorations, and traditional delicacies.
Rare flower varieties such as Rose Pink Floyds, Belinda's Dream Roses, and Cream Sunflowers have made their debut at the flower market.

Hu Xin of the organizer Yangguang Flower Company said that the flowers displayed at the market were all transported directly from the flower planting bases in Yunnan province by air. The flowers are flown in less than 20 hours before the markets opened to maintain their freshness, making them 20 percent cheaper than flowers from other Zhuhai stores.
A resident named Zhang Jiewei said that this year's market is the largest ever in Wanzai, and that another exhibition and promotion fair for local Wanzai flower farmers will open on Jan 16.
Elsewhere in the Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone (Tangjiawan), the Jinyin Bay Spring Festival Flower Market began operations on Wednesday and last through Jan 21, creating a leisure complex for people to buy goods, eat delicious food, and experience traditional skills.

Twenty booths selling New Year flowers and Spring Festival scrolls, along with another 22 distinctive booths selling coffee, cultural products, and handmade ornaments have been set up. There will also be areas for people to experience traditional arts such as paper cutting and kneading sugar figures. In addition, professional calligraphers will be invited to write Spring Festival scrolls for people on-site.
Four parking lots offering more than 700 parking spaces have been opened to meet customers' needs, and home delivery services have also been made available.
In addition, local residents and tourists are encouraged to visit Zhuhai's Pingsha Rice Paddy Plantation Demonstrative Base to see the blooming magenta, pink, and white flowers in the galsang flower field.

Visitors can also get a closer look at cute animals such as rabbits, ducks, and goats during the Second Pingsha Spring Festival Flower Exhibition, which will open on Jan 14 and last until Feb 5. Nearly 40 camping sites at the event have been opened for visitors to experience the fun of camping. Plantation Merchants selling distinctive and famous local agricultural products such as guavas, figs, and green jujubes will also be attending the event.
In Xiangzhou District, a Spring Festival flower market will start to welcome visitors from Saturday at City Balcony facing Xianglu Bay. Customers can also make special purchases and experience intangible cultural heritage items during the Spring Festival holiday.
