Construction on Lianhua Bridge entry ramp completed
The entry ramp for Lianhua (Lotus) Bridge, part of the Hengqin Checkpoint Phase II project, was recently connected, laying a solid foundation for the future operation of a new vehicle inspection site.
Lianhua Bridge, going over Haojiang River, is an important passage directly connecting Hengqin and Macao. The 754-m (825-yd) entry ramp has 26 spans and used more than 6,200 metric tons of steel in construction.

A 236-m (258-yd) circular steel box girder was installed for the ramp and two installation platforms with nine temporary piers were set up.
The renovation and expansion of Lianhua Bridge's entry ramp is a major part of the Hengqin Checkpoint and its comprehensive transportation hub project. Being a national first-class checkpoint, the facility is an important passage for Guangdong-Macao exchanges and will facilitate the further cooperation between Guangdong and Macao.
