Zheng Yicun, a national competitive fishing master from Zhejiang Province, spoke highly of Doumen as an ideal fishing base.
A giant billboard in the shape of a sea bass made its debut during the competition. It has a total length of 20 m (22 yd) and a height of 3 m (10 ft). It showcased Baijiao's sea bass industry, industrial status, industrial chain, and future planning.
Other activities, such as leisure and family-oriented activities, were available at the four sub venues of the competition.
This year's competition is the first of its kind because it integrates a sports competition with the development of local natural environment and fishery resources. The China Angling Association aims to boost fishery development through public interest and sports activities.
Qiandong Village in Doumen's Qianwu Town has been included in the 2022 Municipal "One Village, One Product" Professional Village title.
The aquaculture area of the village is located at the estuary of the Pearl River, bringing clean water for breeding sea bass without the smell of mud.
The village's agricultural output value in 2021 reached 359 million yuan ($51 billion), of which 262 million yuan ($38 million) was contributed to the sea bass breeding industry. This accounts for 72.9 percent of the village's total revenue.
An official of Doumen District Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism & Sports noted that the district will further develop its leisure fishing industry. It will also accelerate the in-depth integration of primary, secondary, and tertiary industries for sea bass breeding, making contributions to the rural vitalization.
A five-year memorandum of cooperation was signed between the China Angling Association and Doumen District People's Government, noting that the two sides will carry out further cooperation to turn Doumen into a national fishing destination and to accelerate the high-quality development of sea bass industry.
