New Jinwan CDC set to open in early 2024 with completed facilities
Construction of the supporting foundation pit and main engineering piles for the Jinwan Center for Disease Control and Prevention has been completed and its main architectural construction is currently underway. The facility is scheduled to begin operations in early 2024.
Earthwork excavation of foundation pits for the office and laboratory buildings, or 35 percent of the total excavation, has also started.
The center is located northeast of Dalin Mt and southwest of the Zhuhai Airport Expressway with total floorage of 6,996.44 sq m (1.7 acres). Construction started on June 14, 2022 over two phases.

The first phase will feature basic functions and encompass laboratories, offices, an emergency public health affairs command center, and cold storage for biological products, while the second phase will be reserved for future development such as training centers and anti-pandemic bases.
It has been listed as one of the Top 10 Jinwan Livelihood Projects for 2022 and will shoulder responsibilities regarding the prevention and control of infectious, parasitic, as well as non-communicable diseases, handling public health emergencies disasters, and epidemics.
The Jinwan CDC, established in February 2020, has been using the 600-sqm (6,458-sqft) temporary offices at the Jinwan Civic Center, which only has 10 offices and two storage rooms, and is without laboratories and cold storage for biological products.
Once operational, the new center will further ensure people's health and life safety, and promote the high-quality development of Zhuhai's health industry.
