Construction of the main structure of Hezhou South Station, a reserved station on Phase II of the Airport Urban Rail Transit, was completed recently.

The station has 1,110.5 m (1,214.5 yd) in ballastless tracks, while the main structure of its platform canopies has a total length of 210 m (230 yds), which required 757.89 cubic meters of concrete. It will still be temporarily closed for a short time after Phase II of the Airport Urban Rail Transit starts operation.

Once operational, Phase II of the Airport Urban Rail Transit will help increase the passenger handling capacity of Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport. Along with the project's first phase, passengers will be able to travel from the airport to Gongbei in 30 minutes.

Others stops at Jinwan, Sanzao East, and Zhuhai Airport stations will be included on the route, while areas for commercial development will be reserved at Jingwan and Sanzao East stations.

The transit project will also help form a new intercity railway passage in Zhuhai and contribute to the establishment of a world-class airport cluster in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
