The Headquarter Research and Development Center of Lingyange Semiconductor unveiled its plaque on Hengqin Financial Island on Nov 15, with a focus on the R&D of advanced and special techniques, mass production, as well as customized system development.

The center will have professional industrial talent teams, as well as advanced chip development and design platforms, according to Li Hongjun, CEO of Lingyange Semiconductor. It will also carry out industry-university-research cooperation with major universities and research institutes in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Li noted that the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin has made it more convenient for enterprises to attract chip design talents thanks to its adjacency to the University of Macau. The convenient transportation between Hengqin and Macao also allows the enterprise to cater to international standards via Macao. 

Lingyange Semiconductor registered in Hengqin in June 2020 based on Foxconn's chip design service. Apart from the company, Hengqin has clustered a number of high-quality integrated circuit enterprises, such as Akrostar Technology and Geehy Semiconductor, gradually forming an industrial cluster.

The enterprise has recently set up a joint biomedical chip laboratory with Zhuhai UM Science & Technology Research Institute to focus on "smart" medicine and big health, using the Internet of Things technologies to connect medical sensors and formulate a health network. 

A 10-billion-yuan ($1.4-billion) Guangdong-Macao Semiconductor Fund has settled in Hengqin in December 2021, as well as a 5-billion-yuan ($707-million) Summitview Capital Sci-Tech Fund, helping Hengqin attract more high-quality resources and speed up industrial development.  

Hengqin has welcomed nearly 30 IC enterprises since July, when it released a document on measures to support IC industrial development. 

Li Ziwei, director of the Cooperation Zone Economic Development Bureau, said that the IC industry has become one of industries with the greatest growth momentum in Hengqin. The integrated development of Hengqin and Macao is expected to provide more opportunities for sci-tech enterprises to carry out coordinated innovation and outcome transformation.
