The 12.3-km (7.6-mile) Dajingshan, Yangliao, Jishan, and Tangjia tunnels of the north section of the Xingye Express were fully connected on Nov 5, with the left line of the Jishan Tunnel in Tangjiawan being drilled through that day.

The Y-shaped north section, stretching 17 km (11 miles), starts from Meihua Road in the south, heads north through Fenghuang Mt, and then separates into east and west lines heading to different areas in Tangjiawan.

The west line will go over East Jintang Road and end at Hagongda Road and the Gaoxin Interchange while the east one will go under Jishan Community and Sun Yat-sen University's Zhuhai campus, and head towards Tangle Road alongside Gangwan Avenue.

The dual six-lane Dajingshan Tunnel of 2.2 km (1.4 miles) was connected in May 2021 while the two-way four-lane Yangliao Tunnel of 5.8 km (3.6 miles) was drilled through on July 20, 2022. 

The project is expected to move forward in mechanical and electrical equipment installation and wind ducts. The construction of wind ducts is very difficult as the depths of the ones of the Jishan Tunnel and Yangliao Tunnel are 122 m (400 ft) and 86 m (282 ft) respectively.
