Construction of global-leading silicon wafer project enters fast lane
The third phase of Guangdong Gokin Solar's 50GW large-size monocrystalline silicon wafer project broke ground in Jinwan District on Nov 6, starting six months ahead of schedule.
Gokin Solar's project is a major industrial project in Zhuhai featuring new energy and was jointly set up by experienced industrial teams, Zhuhai Huafa Group and IDG Capital.

Its first phase kicked off construction 39 days after the contract was signed and it only took 140 days to produce its first large-size monocrystalline silicon wafer and 540 days to put its second phase into full-capacity production, six months ahead of schedule.
The enterprise's output value as of the end of October has exceeded 15 billion yuan ($2 billion) and its independently developed N-type large-size silicon wafer now accounts for 25 percent of the global market share.
A staff member of the enterprise noted that once the third phase begins operation, Gokin will become a global pioneer in technology, quality, scale, and cost control. It will also strive to become a benchmark enterprise in the global photovoltaic monocrystalline silicon field, contributing to the agglomeration of the whole industrial chain of photovoltaic new energy in Zhuhai and the further development of the local real economy.
