The Yuechong Super Charging Station (Aoyuan) opened on Oct 22 in Shangchong Community with 83 charging piles, making it one of the largest commercial charging stations in Zhuhai in terms of the number of charging piles.

The 3,300-sqm (.8-acre) station has 76 direct current quick and seven alternating current charging piles, allowing 83 new energy vehicles to charge at the same time. It also has supporting facilities like tea houses, bookstores, fitness areas, as well as canteens offering lunch, dinner, and night snacks. Several toilets and shower rooms are also available, as well as free direct drinking water.

The station has applied advanced 5G technology to improve its operation, maintenance, management, and expansion capacities. Real-time video monitoring can record the entry and exit of vehicles, as well as determine their expenses, while the big data platform can realize fast response of its charging piles and other supporting facilities. Direct current quick charging at the station for each vehicle only takes around 40 to 60 minutes. 

Deng Wenjun, general manager of the station's operator Guangdong Yuechong New Energy, said that Zhuhai now has more than 15,000 NEV taxis and online hailing vehicles. The lack of super charging stations in Zhuhai, however, fails to meet the surging charging demands of the increasing number of NEVs.

The operation of the station is expected to ease difficulties of NEV motorists in charging their vehicles, with the company expecting to build 300 charging piles in the next three years to help Zhuhai develop a green transportation system.
