Zhuhai's first "New Industrial Community" demonstrative project broke ground in the Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone (Tangjiawan) on Sept 29.

The 0.9-sq-km (0.3-sq-mile) project is located west of West Jinding Road and south of Jinyuan Road, covering a service area of 3 sq km (1 sq mile). It will feature a "one zone & two wings" pattern, as the "one zone" refers to the cluster for emerging industries on the basis of three industry 5.0 space projects, including Gangwan No 7 Super Industrial Community, while the "two wings" in the east and west will be supporting living facilities for industrial workers. 

A total of 5,400 apartment units, two industrial community centers, a primary school, and middle school will be built in the "two wings," which will attract around 20,000 industrial workers to live and work here.

The 53,000-sqm (13-acre) east wing has floorage of 150,000 sqm (37 acres) and will provide more than 3,400 apartments. With an investment of 1.54 billion yuan ($216.37 million), construction on the west wing is expected to be completed in the first half of 2024.

Costing 1.12 billion yuan ($157.32 million), the 46,000-sqm (11-acre) west wing will offer over 2,000 apartments with floorage of 150,000 sqm. Construction will be completed in 2024. 

Apartments of different housing types, such as four-bedroom units and family suites, will be available. In addition, there will be six major supporting facilities, including central canteens, nursery centers, community medical service stations, and public laundries.

Public activity venues, such as reading rooms, gyms, table tennis rooms, basketball courts, and video halls, will also be built to enrich the spiritual and cultural life of industrial workers.

Currently, Tangjiawan has a cluster of more than 80,000 industrial workers and the zone is planning to build 10 "New Industrial Community" demonstrative projects near 10 industry 5.0 space projects, providing high-quality living spaces that can accommodate 200,000 industrial workers. 

Tangjiawan is now striving to be the first choice for high-quality resources to settle on the west bank of the Pearl River Estuary by moving forward the construction of industry 5.0 space projects spanning 3 million sqm (741 acres).
