Post-doctoral entrepreneurship competition starts registration
Online registration for the 1st Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Postdoctoral Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition has now started on its official website and will last through Oct 31.
The competition, jointly held by the Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Guangdong Province, as well as the Zhuhai municipal government, will run from September to December. It is aimed at promoting the innovative development of post-doctorates working in Guangdong, as well as the integrated innovative development of talents in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao.
It features two competition categories, each for innovation and entrepreneurship. Each category contains eight professional areas, including new generation information technology, semiconductors and integrated circuits, biomedicine and big health, high-end equipment manufacturing, as well as new materials.

The preliminary contest for the innovation competition will welcome projects from the four competition areas of overseas, Hong Kong, Macao, and other domestic areas, as well as projects selected by 12 Guangdong centers for post-doctoral studies, including Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technology, and Jinan University. The entrepreneurship competition will gather projects selected by cities for further competitions.
Projects winning the gold, silver, and bronze prizes at the innovation competition will receive a reward of 200,000 yuan ($28,546), 150,000 yuan ($21,409), and 100,000 yuan ($14,273) respectively. The top three prize winners in the entrepreneurship competition will be granted 100,000 yuan, 80,000 yuan ($11,419), and 50,000 yuan ($7,137) respectively. In addition, these projects will be directly recommended to participate in a national competition.
Tang Tao, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and president of Zhuhai-based Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College, delivered a keynote speech during the competition’s launch ceremony and noted that the competition has created an excellent platform for young sci-tech talents in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao.
