The 10-km (6-mile) marathon running track at the Hengqin Flower Corridor opened on Sept 17, featuring outdoor sports, sports events, leisure, tourism, and sightseeing functions for runners.

The loop runway starts at the Number 3 Rest Station at the Hengqin Flower Corridor. Runners can also enjoy views of the Hengqin and Second Hengqin bridges in the distance. Comprehensive facilities like service stations, smart lockers, vending machines, and toilets are set up alongside the track to realize the integration of technology and ecology, as well as sports and tourism.

The track welcomed 50 running enthusiasts for a 5-km (3-mile) fun run that day. A runner surnamed Wang noted that it was enjoyable to run in a picturesque environment as the track is surrounded by flowers and green grass under the clear blue sky. Mileage marks are also available along the track, which is very convenient for runners. 

The Flower Corridor has always been an important part of the Hengqin Marathon and a popular sports and leisure place for residents, said a staff member of the Hengqin Marathon. The opening of the marathon running track is expected to further arouse public awareness and enthusiasm for fitness, encouraging more people to exercise. 

The Hengqin Marathon is the only one of its kind in Zhuhai recognized by the Chinese Athletics Association. Inaugurated in December 2018, the event has been held for three sessions, attracting more than 40,000 participants. Having been honored with the titles of "Marathon Bronze Medal Race" and "Most Beautiful Race Track," it has become a calling card showcasing the rapid development of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.
