The event commenced on Aug 28 and will last through Sept 6. It has been listed as a major cultural tourism exchange project between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong and Macao in 2022 by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The itinerant exhibition will also go to the cities of Guangzhou, Jiangmen, and Dongguan to promote art cooperation among GBA cities and showcase Macao's cultural image.
Liu Fuye, chairman of the Appreciation Hall (Macao) Calligraphy and Painting Association, said that the lotus flower is the symbol of Macao. The exhibition has been held in the SAR for over 10 years and this year has marked the first time for the exhibition to take place on the Chinese mainland.
A themed seminar on the sustainable cultural and art development in Zhuhai and Hengqin was held after the opening ceremony on Sunday, which served as a platform for discussions on pressing issues of enhancing mutual art exchanges, turning Hengqin into an art city and boosting Macao's cultural tourism development.
