The China Aerospace Science & Technology Popularization Exhibition started trial operation on Aug 12 at Hengqin Novotown to offer visitors with real objects and models of spacecraft, interactive experiences, as well as sci-tech popularization events.

Spanning over 1,800 sqm (19,375 sqft), the exhibition is being held by Hong Kong Laisun Group, China Aerospace International Holdings, and the International Cooperation Center of China Aerospace. It is set to become a public base for youth in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) to learn more about aerospace.

Being exhibited are models of Long March rockets and simulator devices that provide visitors a close look at the rocket launching process. Remarkable achievements in China's aerospace development in recent years are also displayed through models of high-resolution satellites, the Chang'e-5 probe, and China's space station.

Interactive experience programs include an immersive shooting game that utilizes virtual reality glasses and a centrifugal machine for visitors to experience astronaut training.

The parent-child center in the exhibition allows families to experience making 3D pictures and assembling rocket models. In addition, seeds of vegetables and fruits cultivated via space breeding technology are on display. 

The exhibition also hosts both online and on-site activities for people in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, such as online exhibitions and experts' lectures.

Hong Kong Laisun Group noted that the exhibition's opening in Hengqin is expected to motivate  youth in the GBA to further their science education, boost regional youth exchanges and communication, as well as help people get a close look at innovation and cutting-edge technologies in aerospace.
