The Zhuhai-Macao Cross-Border Industrial Zone was founded in 2003 with the approval of the State Council and began operations in 2006 as the first of its kind in the country.

Positioned to enhance economic cooperation between Guangdong Province and the former Portuguese colony, the Zhuhai-Macao Cross-Border Zone is a force for Macao's long-term stability and prosperity.

The industrial zone covers 40 hectares (99 acres), about three-quarters of it – 29 hectares (72 acres) – are in Maoshengwei, Gongbei and 11 hectares (27 acres) in Ilha Verde, Macao. It is part of the Zhuhai Free Trade Zone (FTZ) across the Qianshan Watercourse in Wanzai.

The Zhuhai side is 1 km (almost 2/3rds mile) from the passenger transport exit of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, 3 km (less than 2 miles) from Intercity MRT Zhuhai Station, 38 km (24 miles) from Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport, and 53 km (33 miles) from Zhuhai Port.

Furthermore, it is proximate to Zhuhai's prime shopping locations, including Hengqin New Area, Shizimen Central Business District, and Gongbei's core business area, making it a natural portal for foreign products to enter the Chinese mainland.

Zhuhai Park develops cross-border e-commerce, warehousing, and logistics industries by taking advantage of FTZ policies, preferred taxation of export-import goods, and checkpoints with 24-hour customs clearance.
