Since being founded in March 1999, Sanzao Science & Technology Industrial Park has been a vital component of the Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone.

It has a well-developed sea-land-air transportation network close to Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport. The park is 20 km (12.5 miles) from Zhuhai Port and Zhuhai Railway Station while interlaced intercity MRTs and expressways give it access to other Pearl River Delta cities within 1.5 hours.

Covering 7.71 sq km (2.98 sq miles) in Jinwan District's Sanzao Town, Sanzao Science & Technology Industrial Park comprises Sanzao Sci-Tech Park, the Qinshi and Dingjiawan industrial zones, and Zhuhai Biomedicine and Qingwan New Energy industrial parks.

The park is home to aviation, biomedicine, new energy, electronical products, electrical appliances, and precision manufacturing as pillar industries and hosts many leading enterprises in these sectors including Philips Dap, Yinlong New Energy, United Laboratories, By-Health, and Rundu Pharma.

To enhance its competitiveness, the government has granted it city-level jurisdiction in economic management. The policy gives in-house enterprises a much lower cost for water, electricity, and land use while exempting administrative fees. 

The industrial park is Zhuhai's first four-star new-type industrialized demonstration base recognized by the Ministry of Industry & Information Technology and Guangdong's first four-star new-type industrialized demonstration base in biomedicine.
