Aikosolar Energy's Zhuhai project to start operation this year
Phase I of Aikosolar Energy's project in Doumen District's Fushan Industrial Park has finished the main structure construction of its buildings and will start operations this year.
The 1,125-mu (185-acre) project is invested in and constructed by Shanghai Aiko Solar Energy. It will be completed in three phases with total investment of 18 billion yuan ($3 billion). One of the world's major manufacturers of passivated emitter and rear cells, Aiko Solar Energy's products are widely sold in countries and areas like South Korea, Japan, India, as well as Europe. It has set up advanced R&D centers in Zhejiang Province and Germany, ranking first in the world in terms of patented technologies in solar cells.

Once the entire project is completed, it is expected to solve the bottleneck problems of precious metal's application on crystalline silicon solar cells with the world's first desilver metallization technology. It will produce new-generation N-type ABC high-efficiency solar cells, which were first launched by Shanghai Aiko Solar Energy.
The facility is the most advanced plant by the company with the largest investment scale, said project head Guo Meiwei. Construction on its second phase will start at the end of 2022 or in early 2023, while Phase III is projected to complete construction and start operation in 2025.
By then, the project is expected to generate annual output value of 31.2 billion yuan ($462.93 million) and provide more than 6,000 job opportunities, attracting more high-caliber talents to settle in Zhuhai.
Liu Yang, deputy director of Fushan Industrial Park's administrative committee, noted that the project will have positive effects in introducing upstream and downstream industries to the park, as well as boost the development of the whole new energy industrial chain.
More than 30 major projects, with total investment exceeding 6 billion yuan ($888 million), commenced construction at the industrial park in the first half of 2022, while the investment volume for the second half of 2022 is expected to reach 10 billion yuan ($1.5 billion). Among them, priority will be given to integrated circuits, new energy and new materials, as well as semiconductor industrial projects.
Doumen District has been devoting continuous efforts to developing industrial clusters in the new-generation information technology, new energy and materials, high-end equipment manufacturing, as well as modern agriculture industries.
The district's added value of industries above designated size in the first half of the year increased by 6 percent year-on-year to 10.79 billion yuan ($1.6 billion), while that of the hi-tech, advanced manufacturing, and equipment manufacturing industries grew by 13.1 percent, 19.8 percent, and 15.8 percent respectively.
