Construction of the substructure of the Hengqin Interchange in the Jinhai Avenue Bridge project, containing piers and bearing platforms, was completed on July 31, while cast-in-place beam pouring has been underway since August.

Three of the 15 cast-in-place beams are now completed, with construction of the bridge's accessory structures to start after all the beams are poured.

Apart from the Hengqin Interchange, the Jinhai Avenue Bridge project includes construction of the Zizhu Bay Interchange, as well as asphalt paving for motor lanes on the bridge.

The Hengqin Interchange will connect Hengqin Avenue and West Huandao Road, allowing motorists on the Second Hengqin Bridge to have access to the Jinhai Bridge via the interchange, once it opens in the second half of 2023. With a designed speed limit of 100 km/h (62 mph), it will offer one more high-speed passage for motorists from Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport to reach the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and Xiangzhou District.
