Biomedical super factory begins construction in Tangjiawan
Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Medical Device & Biomedical Industrial Park, a "super factory" consisting of 20 high-standard workshop buildings, broke ground in the Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone on July 30.
The 2.56-billion-yuan ($378.85-million) park covers an area of 150,000 sqm (37 acres) and has floorage of 600,000 sqm (148 acres). Workshop buildings in the park will have an 8-m-high (26-ft-high) first floor, which will be able to bear a load of up to 2 metric tons. Scheduled to finish construction in 2023, the park will become a smart medicine demonstration zone in Zhuhai.

The industrial park is located near Jintang Road in Tangjiawan, a traffic artery of Zhuhai, and enjoys convenient transportation, with motorists able to reach the Guangdong Western Coastal Expressway in five minutes from the park.
Duan Lianwei, executive deputy general manager of the park's constructor Zhuhai Hi-tech Construction Investment, said that the park integrates examination, testing, R&D, and production functions. It is equipped with sewage pumping rooms, class-A warehouses, solid waste treatment stations, as well as reserved sewage and exhaust wells.
As a new high-quality industry 5.0 space project, the park will offer low rent, optimized equipment, scaled operation, and high-quality management.
Commercial facilities, talent apartments, and communities will be set up in the park, while its nearby areas will be a leading new industrial community in Zhuhai.
Zhuhai Hi-tech Construction Investment signed strategic cooperation agreements with industrial associations like the Shenzhen Medical Association, Shenzhen Life Science and Biotechnology Association, as well as Zhuhai Medical Device Industrial Association that day.
Su Weikun, chairman of Zhuhai Kano Medicine, said that the park is located in the one-hour transportation circle within the GBA and that the introduction of future leading projects will promote the high-quality development of the Hi-Tech Zone's medical device and biomedicine industry.
The Hi-Tech Zone's total operation revenue in the first half of 2022 increased by 9.8 percent year-on-year to 161.7 billion yuan ($23.9 billion), with its main park in Tangjiawan experiencing a 3.5-percent growth in GDP, ranking first citywide in terms of growth rate. Of note, the zone's medical device and biomedical industry has maintained a rapid growth of over 20 percent for seven consecutive quarters.
