Fushan Industrial City, a major industry 5.0 space project located in Zhuhai's west wing that is key to implementing the city's "industry first" development strategy, broke ground on July 28. It is envisioned to be a new example of industry-city integration.

Located in the Er'wei area of Fushan Industrial Park in Doumen District, the industry city has a core area of 14,800 mu (987 hectares, 2,438 acres) and will be built over three phases. It will focus on the integration of natural scenery and industry while promoting the construction of industry 5.0 space projects.

The project will give priority to the introduction of projects related to new energy, new-generation information technology, and high-end equipment manufacturing. More than 1.5 million sqm (370 acres) in high-standard factories will be completed by the end of this year.

Zhuhai has put forward that the project will prepare industry 5.0 spaces, spanning 20 million sqm (4,942 acres), by 2023 for high-quality industrial development, of which 10 million sqm (2,471 acres) will be newly built.

The city's total added value of industries above designated size increased by 8.5 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2022 to 74.86 billion yuan ($11.1 billion), ranking second in Guangdong Province in terms of growth rate.

In addition, Zhuhai plans to sign agreements on 68 key projects with a single investment of over 100 million yuan ($15 million) the near term, which will boost total investment of 75.71 billion yuan ($11.22 billion). Of note, agreements on 26 of the projects worth 56 billion yuan ($8.3 billion) were signed to settle in Zhuhai that day, spanning industries of new-generation information technology, new energy, new materials, equipment manufacturing, and food industry. 

Huang Zhihao, mayor of Zhuhai, said that the city will accelerate construction of industry 5.0 space projects to bring benefits to enterprises and expressed hope that Fushan Industrial City can be put into operation as soon as possible to serve as an "industrial forest."
