Toll collection for Xianghai Bridge wins provincial approval
Toll collection on the Xianghai Bridge has gained approval from the Transport Department and Development & Reform Commission of Guangdong Province, Zhuhai Communication Group announced on July 25.
Upon operation of the bridge, one main and seven ramp toll collection stations will be set up. Vehicles with less than nine seats will be charged 0.60 yuan (9 cents) for every kilometer to cross the 29.8-km (18.5-mile) charging section, while other passenger vehicles and trucks will pay a different charging coefficient.
For vehicles with less than nine seats, the toll rate is 1.33 yuan (20 cents) for the 2.2-km (1.36-mile) section of the Mingzhu-Zaobei toll collection stations and 16.28 yuan ($2.41) for the section between Tanzhou Interchange and the Zhaoxin Toll Collection Station in Baijiao Town. For those traveling on the main line from the Mingzhu Toll Collection Station to Huxin Road in Doumen, 12.17 yuan ($1.80) will be charged.
The section from the Tanzhou Interchange to Zaobei will have a designated speed limit of 80 kmph (50 mph), while the designated speed limit of the section from Zaobei to Huxin Road is 100 kmph (62 mph).
