Construction started on the Gechuang industry 5.0 space project, a garden-style industrial park jointly built by the Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone (Tangjiawan) and Gree Group, on July 7.

The 957-million-yuan ($143-million) project is located north of Xinsha No 5 Road and east of Tianxing No 2 Road in the Beiwei area of Tangjiawan. It is close to the transportation nodes of Zhuhai North Station, Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, and Shenzhen-Zhuhai Link.

It covers total area of 51,700 sq m (13 acres) and floorage of 206,800 sq m (51 acres). Enterprises signed to settle in the project will be able to start decorations by year end.

Specially designed for the high-end R&D of innovative industries, each floor of the project has a height of 10 m (33 ft) and can bear a load of up to 2 metric tons. Production lines of up to 170 m (186 yd) can be set up, meeting the demands of different enterprises, especially those involved in high-end manufacturing.

The overall design of the project adheres to the concept of being green and environmentally friendly, safe and efficient, as well as smart and vital. U-shape factories are located in the north part of the plot, while pedestrian sightseeing belts will be established to link buildings in the south area and overhead corridors are available to connect factories and other supporting facilities like talent apartments and playgrounds.

Intelligent and digital new media exhibition centers will also be built, as well as smart canteens.

Tangjiawan plans to build 10 industry 5.0 space projects, of which 1.16 million sq m (287 acres) will be completed this year. The total new industry 5.0 spaces prepared by the Hi-Tech Zone in the next two years will reach 2.16 million sq m (534 acres).
