Work recently began on the 1.5-billion-yuan ($225-million) third phase of Sanxi Technology & Innovation Town's start-up area in Qianshan, which is the first rent-only industry 5.0 space project in Zhuhai to start construction right after obtaining land use permits.

Located east of National Expressway G105, west of Meijie Road, and south of Chuangyuan Road, the project with land area of 40,300 sq m (10 acres) will be constructed into standard and customized plants, bringing more than 160,000 sq m (40 acres) in industry 5.0 space and infrastructure when it begins operation in June 2023.

Construction of the first standard factory in the project officially began on June 17 and is expected to undergo interior decoration by the end of this year, before being officially completed in June 2023. To meet the production demands of most enterprises, the 8-m-high (26-ft-high) first floor of the factory will bear a load of up to 2 metric tons, while the second and third floors will be about 6 to 7 m (23 ft) high. Floors above the third floor will be with a height of over 4.5 m (15 ft).

Shang Lijun, deputy general manager of constructor Zhuhai Gree Construction & Investment, said that the project will help Xiangzhou establish three industrial hubs in high-end manufacturing, innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as high-end service. It will also support Zhuhai's construction of a modern industrial pattern and boost the high-quality development of its real economy. 

Located in Shangchong in southwest Xiangzhou District, Sanxi Technology & Innovation Town is a key platform for the district's sci-tech innovation and industrial upgrading. With investment of over 8.6 billion yuan ($1.3 billion) from Gree Group, the town will have more than 840,000 sq m (208 acres) in floorage, of which over 610,000 sq m (151 acres) will be used for industrial purposes. The remaining 220,000 sq m (54 acres) will be used for offices, hotels, as well as commercial areas. 

The S1 land lot of the town's first phase has finished its main structure construction and an investment attraction center has started operation. More than 90 enterprises are planning to settle in the town, with up to 300,000 sq m (74 acres) booked to be used for production and R&D areas.

In addition, construction on Xili Square, Sanxi Community Center, and Sanxi Park is moving forward since work started in April, while a kindergarten and primary school will be put into use this September.

Sanxi Technology & Innovation Town will be built into Zhuhai's first "smart" industrial park with a complete industrial ecosystem and supporting facilities, noted Li Chaoming, vice-president of Gree Group.
