The first batch of 33 students from Macau University of Science & Technology (MUST) recently began their general medicine clinical practice at Zhuhai People's (Renmin) Hospital, marking MUST students' first clinical probation on the Chinese mainland and the in-depth cooperation between the two sides in medical education. 

The students have been divided into four groups for clinical rotation at the general surgery, neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery, orthopedics (dorsal spine osteopathy and orthopaedic trauma), as well as urology departments.

Outstanding tutors have been selected by the hospital for the project. They will strive to formulate a new model in which Zhuhai tutors and Macao students will learn from each other. A clinical practice base will also be established to provide demonstrations for further Zhuhai-Macao education cooperation.

Zhuhai People's Hospital and MUST have been deepening cooperation in medical education and research since 2021, when the two parties signed a strategic cooperation agreement that made the medical facility a MUST-affiliated hospital. 

Lu Ligong, head of the hospital, expressed his hope that MUST students grasp this opportunity of clinical clerkship to gain experience and provide more accessible and convenient medical services for residents in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area at a higher level in the future.
