A forest-themed rest station at the foot of Small Hengqin Mt began trial operation on May 1 and quickly went viral online. It received more than 5,000 visitors during the recent Labor Day holiday, which fell from April 30 to May 4, of which more than half came from Macao.

The rest station's name, Shan Hai, stands for mountain and sea. Construction of the facility gave top priority to ecological maintenance, according to the constructor and operator Zhuhai Qinjian Gardening.

The original plants and topography were used to create a landscape with rich layers, while 10,000 sq m (2.5 acres) in flower areas were built to maximize vegetation diversity.

Distinctive Macao delicacies and drinks are available at the station. Various kinds of events featuring Hengqin and Macao culture will be arranged in the future to provide an ideal relaxation place for tourists and residents in Hengqin and Macao. In addition, arts and natural education activities will be offered to showcase the abundant natural resources of Small Hengqin Mt.
