New facilities offer better water supply to Macao
Three newly-built high-power units with a lift range of 42 meters (46 yards) at Guangchang Pumping Station in Nanping recently started trial operation, aiming for better water supply to Macao.
As part of the Guangchang-Hongwan water supply system optimization project, the three units will deliver water from the Guangchang Pumping Station to the fourth water supply pipeline from Zhuhai to Macao and after-bay of the Hongwan Pumping Station through two fully closed pipelines, with a diameter of 2 m (2 yd), that go over Hongwan Bay to Macao.
Water from the Guangchang Pumping Station can also be delivered to the Zhuxiandong Reservoir via the Hongwan Pumping Station to secure the water supply of the other three pipelines that provide water from Gongbei to the Macao Peninsula.
Li Yonghai of constructor Zhuhai Water Environment Holdings said that the project will reduce pollution risks at the forebay when delivering water from the Guangchang to Hongwan pumping stations, save energy, and cut carbon emissions.
