Management system for engineering projects in the Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) will be further innovated as an engineering test laboratory and a mediation center will settle in Hengqin this year.

The laboratory will provide services spanning technical support, evaluation of engineering experimental standards, and quality testing of engineering materials. In addition, Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao professionals in engineering, judicial, arbitration, and mediation services will be hired by the mediation center to create a more convenient, efficient, and diversified settlement mechanism for cross-boundary project disputes.

Establishment of the laboratory and mediation center is being promoted by Huazhong United Design and Consulting (Hengqin), the first design consultancy in the Chinese mainland jointly run by parties in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. The company settled in the Macao-Hengqin Youth Entrepreneurship Valley in September 2018.

Yan Shu, general manager of the company, said that promoting the construction of a Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao engineering project management system is one of the four main businesses of the company.

Yan is also the chief draftsman and general consultant of the first domestic regulation allowing Hong Kong and Macao enterprises and professionals in architectural engineering to directly provide services in the Chinese mainland. The regulation was approved by the standing committee of the Zhuhai Municipal People's Congress in September 2019.
