Hengqin Checkpoint records over 3.92m pedestrians in 6 months
The new Hengqin Checkpoint received over 3.92 million cross-border pedestrians and around 520,000 vehicles with great convenience since the plaque was unveiled for the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin on Sept 17, 2021.
The "Joint Inspection & One-Time Release" mode, in which travelers queue and have documents examined only once, has cut customs clearance time to 30 seconds and facilitated the checkpoint's success. A University of Macau student surnamed Wang, who lives in Hengqin, noted that travelling between Hengqin and Macao every day is convenient.

Over 320,000 Macao single-plate vehicles have crossed the boundary via the checkpoint since September, an increase of 39 percent year-on-year, accounting for more than 60 percent of the total number of entry-exit vehicles.
In the future, Hengqin Checkpoint will devote more efforts to inspection model innovation, development of convenience measures for border-crossers, as well as COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control efforts to support the development of the Cooperation Zone.
