Costing 12.82 million yuan ($2.03 million), the trail forms a significant part of the slow-traffic road system of southwestern Waidingling. It starts from Xiangsiling Manor and stretches 1.7 km (1.06 miles) along the coastline to end at a quarry. All four exits are accessible to sightseeing buses.
Visitors will encounter many popular sights like a sea-viewing platform, the Xiangsiling Rest Station, and Lengshuikeng Reservoir during their journey. The scenery will alter between sunrise, afternoon, and sunset. This phenomenon is referred to as the central showpiece of Wailingding Island.
The predecessor of the trail is Guanlan Road, which was short and disconnected from nearby scenic spots. The surrounding environment was also seriously damaged by human impact. Its transformation is set to create a systematic sightseeing route as a new tourism calling card for Wailingding Island, according to Liang Jiqin, an official of Dangan Urban Management Office.
