Zhuhai residents will be able to reach downtown Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Dongguan, and Jiangmen through the proposed Foshan-Guangzhou-Dongguan Intercity MRT, which was formerly known as Guangzhou Metro Line 28. 

Approved by the National Development and Reform Commission, the MRT line will start from Lecong Town in Shunde District, Foshan and stretch southward to connect with the Guangzhou-Foshan-Jiangmen-Zhuhai Intercity MRT. Its Dongguan section will be extended to link the Huanggang Checkpoint in Shenzhen. 

The Guangzhou-Foshan-Jiangmen-Zhuhai Intercity MRT starts from Guangzhou's Fangcun District and ends at Jiangmen Station. It passes through Foshan's Dongping New City and heads towards Jiangmen's Heshan, Pengjiang, and Xinhui, before ending in Zhuhai. A preparation working group for the railway line was set up in Jiangmen on Jan 19.
